05/11/2008 - College PREP - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Nick shows as a two player at SS and on the mound. He currently projects best in the infield. Arm strength is solid average displaying carry and accuracy from a high ' arm slot. He does wind up and needs to speed up his exchange and release. Foot speed is well above average and he utilizes his quick feet in his lateral movement in the infield, showing range. He needs to utilize his athletic feet more by playing through routine ground balls in the field. Glove action and hands are sure and efficient in making all the plays. At the plate, Nick continues to show strong average ability. He continuously displays the ability to find the barrel, especially to the pull side. Swing path does get long with barrel in and out of the zone at contact. Power numbers will increase as he works to keep hands inside and through the baseball at the point of contact. Nick has potential with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
