06/26/2016 - College PREP - Troy (Albany), NY Nikklas is an athletic R/R 2B/RHP who graduates in 2019. Defensively, he hustles into a square fielding position and tracks GB's into his mitt. He gathers well and works in-line toward his target at 1B. With the bat, this RHH displays patience as he waits for a pitch he likes. He takes a hack and looks to drive the middle of the field. Striding more square to the plate, swinging on a more level path and engaging his lower 1/2 more will help to improve skills with the bat. On the mound, this RHP works to a controlled balance point and has smooth separation. He works in-line toward the dish and repeats well. FB tops out at 72 mph as he works the ball in and out. Changeup is best off-speed pitch with good arm-side run. Driving off of the rubber with his lower 1/2 along with getting on a long toss program will both help to increase velocity on the mound. Nikklas is young and still has a ton of time to develop his skills.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
