08/08/2008 - ACR-E - Maryland - 7 Ricky had an excellent showing at this event with an improvement in 60-time, velocity and arm grade, and fielding grade. In the OF, had loose arm action which developed good carry. Got into good throwing position and had decent transfer because hands and feet work well together. Took good angles to get to ball. Had a low ' arm angle which created arm-side run and fell off after throw. At the plate, showed good base with ability to keep head on ball. Had an up-the-middle approach and was able to keep hands inside ball. When he keeps front side closed, hands were on time to hitting zone and used all fields.

03/02/2008 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Ricky is a young tall player. In the OF, shows accurate throws and life in his arm. Gets rid of the ball quickly and gets behind the ball well. Swing is balanced with bat speed. Tends to bar arm which creates a longer swing. Keeping lead elbow bent during swing will allow bat path to shorten and quicken at the same time. Ricky has some ability and time to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
