10/14/2009 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2009 Ryder showed good consistency as he got on base 6 out of 11 times he batted. At 1B, showed nice loose arm action as throws were accurate with carry. Good athletic actions allowed him to have above-average range. His soft hands allowed him to pick balls consistently and save bad throws. At the plate, had good knowledge of zone as he tracked balls effectively. Quick hands allowed him to have level swing thru zone. As he extends thru ball, barrel stays in hitting zone longer. Good use of lower half gave him leverage to hit balls with gap-to-gap power. On the mound, had a compact delivery that he was able to repeat with good rhythm. Nice loose arm action with extension allowed him to work down in the zone consistently. Showed a good idea on how to pitch by changing speeds effectively as he worked in and out. Got outs and was very effective against LH hitters.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
