08/24/2008 - College PREP - Farmingdale, NY Sean is a catcher with a solid body suited for the position. Arm strength is solid average and has improved since the last time that we saw him. Throws display life, carry and accuracy into his target. Pop times are consistent and have dropped a lot and will control the running game at the next level with his feet and arm. He gets his body into a strong position to throw. Receiving and blocking are slightly average and he does need some instruction and work in these areas. At the plate, Ferguson has average ability with near average power. He makes consistent contact through a balanced approach. He shows a line drive type swing and once again, hitting grades and abilities will improve quickly with some instruction and adjustments at the plate. Power numbers will increase as overall body strength is improved. Sean has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
