10/08/2008 - Florida National Tournament - 2008 Martin is an athletic defender that showed excellent actions and excellent hands. He needs to work on trusting his ability, which will allow him to play with more boldness and confidence. At the plate, he was aggressive and showed very good bat speed. Needs to work to keep the ball out of the air, path needs to flatten out to help him produce more line drives and hard ground balls. Can also work to track the ball better, needs to be able to handle the bat as a situational hitter. Overall, a quality young man with athletic ability and potential to develop further as he gets stronger and gains confidence in his ability.

09/07/2008 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Seth is a two way player in the outfield and at 2B with a solid body that does show projection as it continues to physically mature. He does show life in his body's actions. Arm strength is well above average and shows best in the outfield where it displays life, carry, and accuracy into the target. Foot speed is average and needs to get on a speed/agility program to improve. Feet are active and aggressive in his approach in the infield and outfield, playing through the baseball. At the plate, Martin has average ability and power. Set up is solid through a balanced approach but does have some mechanical flaws hindering him from reaching his full potential. Hitting grades will improve quickly with instruction and adjustments at the plate. If hitting grades improve, he will be a solid collegiate player.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
