05/25/2008 - College PREP - Nashville, TN Spencer is a left handed pitcher with good command of all his pitches. He shows a two and four seam fast ball but flashes life with both. His two seam flashes some tail with his four seam being straight. He does work on a strong downhill plane. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to further build arm strength. Breaking ball shows a 1/7 downward shape with solid spin when he stays on top. Change up is his best pitch showing solid average ability. He displays a solid feel for with some sink and fade movement. Spencer has some ability with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
