08/12/2008 - College PREP - Wilmington, DE Stephen is an athletic looking catcher with an accurate arm and some carry on his throws. His exchange is very long and he tends to fall off to the 3B side. As a receiver, he is quiet and firm on the catch. On the block, he has a good idea and centers the ball well. He has a kick-back approach which slows him down and hurts his body control. He has a good feel at the plate with a balanced setup and good batspeed. He uses the whole field, but would like to see him add some lower half rotation and improve his extension as well. Overall quickness needs to improve, but he has a good base to work with offensively and defensively.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
