06/29/2008 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Tomas shows as a SS but will be more suited for 2B at the next level. Foot speed is solid and he does a nice job of utilizing his feet through the fielding and throwing process. Arm strength is playable but he does need to get on a strict long toss program to further develop. Glove action is soft and sure. Double play feeds are well above average. At the plate, Galvan shows solid average ability. He has a quiet set up and load. He does tend to stride open causing his front side to fly open. As he learns to square his approach, it will enable him to stay closed, keeping hands inside the baseball to utilize all fields. Tomas has potential with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
