Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • Position Projection

07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Trevor is a tall/broad/athletic 2016 graduate who plays RHP/1B/OF. He has very good arm strength, his ball has life/carry and he is accurate. On the mound Trevor projects very well with a tall body structure and long limbs. He needs to loosen his arm action, keep his hands together on set-up, get to a tall balance point, drive his lower half more and refrain from falling off to first base side. As a fielder Trevor has good footwork, a controlled approach, athletic/low fielding position and clean feeds. He needs to work on his picks and continue to progress with his footwork (both speed and agility). Trevor also showed good ability as an outfielder down in Pirate City. At the plate he has an athletic set-up and good bat speed but he needs to keep his weight centered (he tends to be back too far), use his lower half more and adjust his swing path to be on-plane to the pitch (he chops down). Trevor is a very projectable kid with a big upside. If he works on his speed/agility and continues to progress he should be a very good player in the future.

12/27/2011 - Vero Beach Christmas Camp and Tournament Trevor is a 2016 graduate who is a RHP and plays 1B. He has above average arm strength but needs to work on his accuracy. Trevor is very project-able on the mound. He is a big/strong kid with a powerful lower half. He displayed solid mechanics but he needs to use his glove side more to increase hip and shoulder movement. Also he needs to develop his CB and a CH. In the infield Trevor needs to work on basic fielding position (he is too high/fields too deep) and footwork/agility needs to improve. At the plate he showed a lot of potential. Trevor has well above average power, smooth rhythm and sound load but his balance falls forward and his backside collapses. He needs to let the ball travel into the proper hitting zone and get his lower half through. Trevor hit very well in the games and showed a very competitive side on the mound as well. If he makes the adjustments and works on his flaws Trevor will be a stand-out player in the future.

11/06/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Trevor is a tall, lanky 2-way player who pitches and plays 1st base. On the mound, Trevor has good balance, he works on a downhill plane, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He has smooth separation, good direction toward home, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. At 1st base, Trevor has firm hands, playable feet, and he is a good target for his infielders. He plays in good rhythm, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short arm action with accuracy and average strength to his target. At the plate, Trevor has a square set-up, a proper load, and a short stride. He has good balance, average bat speed, and he makes consistent contact. Trevor swings in good rhythm, and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Lengthen arm action
2. Finish / Extension
3. Long toss
Defense
1. Lighten feet
2. Field further out in front
Offense
1. Rhythm / Timing
2. Shorten swing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
