08/10/2008 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Trey is an outfielder with a solid average body suited for the position. Foot speed is near average and he needs to work improve foot speed through an agility / foot speed program for the next level. His feet are active and he utilizes feet well in going back on balls. He takes proper routes and does work to get behind balls in the outfield. Arm strength is average and he does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in developing more arm strength. At the plate, Deason has solid average ability and slightly average raw power. He has bat speed and shows a feel for the barrel to the pull side. Swing path is long due to an arm bar created in the load. Hitting grades will improve quickly with some instruction and adjustments at the plate. Trey has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
