04/28/2019 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Tyler is a lean catcher who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, Tyler shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking. He receives with soft hands but will benefit by squaring stance up. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Pop times showed in the 2.34 range. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Tyler improve defensively. At the plate is he a switch hitter that shows similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Tyler has potential with a lot of room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
