08/23/2008 - ACR-E - California - 3 Zach has an athletic body and will be able to hold more muscle to his frame as he matures. He stayed low through the fielding process and made a quick exchange. Would like to see him keep feet moving through the fielding process. He will project best at 2B until arm strength and footwork quickens. He has a repeatable swing at the plate. Find the barrel often and ball travels well when centered. We also saw him on the mound where he topped out at 72 mph. He had above average arm action and control. He will need to increase velocity to be more projectable on the mound.

04/27/2008 - College PREP - Stockton, CA Zach is a tall athletically built player. At SS, Zach shows soft hands especially on the back hand and average range. He approaches the ball well but must learn to stay down and play through the ball. This will help with momentum to target. He has a good idea of how to turn the double play. A long toss program will help improve arm strength. At the plate, swing is quick and level with balance. Zach's hands move directly to the ball but he needs to get his lower half more involved in the swing. This will help increase power.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
