11/16/2008 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Zach is a young, 2011 graduate that shows as a RHP with a lot of potential. His body is tall, solid and does show future projection as it continues to physically mature. Arm strength is near above average and would benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in developing more arm strength and raise velocities. Fastball has solid glove side run. Breaking ball is solid average displaying an 11/5 shape, tight spin, and late bite. It shows flashes of being a quality pitch at the next level. Changeup is slightly average showing a feel for with late action. He does need some polish on his delivery and mechanics which should aid in improving control. Zach has a big upside on the mound and if arm strength continues to rise, he will get a lot of looks from the college coaches.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
